Turned out the snowpocalypse was a NOpocalypse for NYC. Good for us. Bad for areas further East and North. They did get the expected bazillion inches of snow. I believe they are still digging out their cars.
I took a snow day because they shut down the subways. Never before in the past 110 years have they shut down the subways!!!! Since I couldn’t actually get to work, The Husband, The Doggie and I decided to make the best of it and went for a lovely 2 hour walk in Prospect Park. Someone (not me) LOVES the snow and will take any opportunity to roll around in it and stick her snout in the snowdrifts.
We also got to see a bunch of cardinals, beautifully bright red against the bare trees and glistening new white snow. And finally, we saw a hawk, so well camouflaged in the trees I couldn’t see it until he moved his head.
Of course The Husband was the one who saw all the wildlife and pointed it out to me. A lion could have crossed my path, I wouldn’t have noticed!

LOL! I’ll trust you on the hawk being red-tailed since both you and Barry said it was. I can confirm the dog is a big one.

Good to see you out and about in the snow! We did get quite a bit, but they seem to get a handle on it quickly now that they don’t let you out on the streets with your car. That helps a lot…but then there are people like me who get so antsy staying inside. lol Great that you saw some wildlife in Brooklyn. I probably would miss it since I’d be paying such close attention to shadows and the colors in the snow.

Joan, that’s what I was doing…staring at the snow to see what color it was! LOL. It was really nice to be out in the fresh air and nice clean, white snow. You know, before it turns black and/or yellow.

Great photos, “The Husband”! 🙂 …and good for you, using a gentle leader on Kaiya.

Glad you like the photos Leslie. I couldn’t walk the dog without the gentle leader. Most people think it’s a muzzle. I don’t correct them unless they are friends and want to say hello to her. With out the gentle leader she’d be walking me!

Everyone needs a snow day or two.
Wonderful photo of the hawk perched as if it’s part of the tree.

It was a great snow day! Thanks Tom. And that hawk blended so perfectly with the trees I don’t know how my husband saw him. But I’m glad he did.

Great pictures, love the one of you! I love walking in the snow when its just fallen. I asked Billy to take a walk with me that day, and he said no. He was recovering from shovelling the driveway.

Tell Billy to shell out some money and have some kids shovel the driveway while he takes you for a nice snow day walk!

Brave family, out in the cold and snow – I try to hibernate until it’s all gone! Loved the photos and that’s one big hawk!!

Hi Rhonda…we weren’t that brave cause it wasn’t that much snow. And it was fun to let our doggie play in the snow since we have no outdoor space.

Carol I think they should shut it once a week, it looks beautiful and wasted without you walking around there 🙂
