Floral Wicker is the code phrase The Husband and I use when one of us, usually me, mishears something. It started when Judy, Mary, The Husband and I were in Belize. One of us said something, Judy thought we said “Floral Wicker” and we all collapsed laughing.
Well now the joke’s on me because I’m hearing more and more “Floral Wicker”. The Husband and I were driving yesterday and I heard the radio guy say Paul McCartney declared bankruptcy. I yelled at the radio “Paul McCartney is a billionaire, how can he be bankrupt?” The Husband told me it was Bacardi, not Paul McCartney that declared bankruptcy. We laughed and laughed. Now today, I tried to look up Bacardi and bankruptcy and nothing, so maybe the joke was on the both of us. And I still don’t know who they were talking about. Jeez!
Here are some more leaves, this time in fall colors. I know the calendar says it’s autumn, but it’s still hot. Ugh!
I finally finished the Guggenheim which I started here. It didn’t come out the way I thought it would. Insert sad emoticon here.

Even a single leaf is enough to enjoy the vibrancy of the fall, this is lovely! And the museum composition is such a tough one, even choosing such one requires amazing courage I think, you did a nice job of it!

I think your Guggenheim painting is phenomenal! All those “little people”! You rock! And I rather like the glow off those separate floors. Gives the feel of the light in the place. The leaves are wondeful, but don’t even want to think of raking!
The floral wicker? I have a lot of those and didn’t know what it was called. I like floral wicker much better than hard of hearing. 🙂

Lovely leaves that give one a sense of the season.
As for not hearing things correctly, it seems to be occurring with ever increasing frequency, and nearly always quite amusing. The latest – “house key” had mysteriously become “husky.”

Ha, I love that, floral wicker! We have an expression like that that of misheard words, ‘peace melon’! Your leaves are really lovely, I do like that technique and I think the Guggenheim paintng is really good-thats a very ambitious piece that I wouldn’t have known where to begin with all those levels!

Love the Guggenheim painting! The level of difficulty with the architecture and the people and the lighting is amazing. As for the leaves…I have tried that technique of negative painting, and that is not easy either. Go Carol!

Carol, I’m loving the Guggenheim, no sad emoticons necessary for me! I’m impressed and inspired. Has the mood of a Hopper painting for me. Nice work!

I love the Guggenheim! Maybe you were picturing something in your mind which we aren’t…so we are happy with it as is (which is great)! The colors give it the atmosphere like the patrons are there in the evening…cocktail party maybe??? Where is my champagne?
Very autumnal group of leaves…great color and splashes!

The Guggenheim is awesome, Carol. I am afraid to paint people most of the time. I really love the leaves. They are in such happy colors! 🙂
My hubby has one of those floral whickers. His friend was telling him a woman they saw needed some mega-bone. The hubby thought.. what? Some mega-bone??? What his friend had actually said (in his Okie accent) was “she needed some makeup on”. ha ha ha We still laugh about that one.

I’ve decided I have perfect hearing – except when it comes to Sweetie and then I’ve misheard him so often that I have fallen into the habit of saying, “What?” whenever he speaks – not good!!! He does have problems when talking into any monitor at a fast food place so I think it’s the level of his voice (soft) and the tone? Because I can hear a pin drop in another room so…can’t be me, right? ha ha I like these paintings and enjoyed the story – now I need to find out how Bacardi (with is just a brand) can declare bankruptcy because you know more people are drinking mojitos every day, right?

The Guggenheim drawing is gorgeous! I think that is a very difficult subject. Thanks for sharing!

lovely paintings. Too funny floral wicker! I’ve decided selective hearing is more my issue; I really enjoy tuning out:)

Hahaha! I overhear strange phrases all the time, and often it’s pretty hilarious. Hooray for silliness! I think the Guggenheim painting is terrific! You really captured grandness of the place. And those leaves are so pretty!
